Webmaster
Hi everyone and welcome to our web site. Like anything new it needs input to make it work and whilst I have set it up with a few elementary details I do need a lot more information and suggestions. You can see by the menu on the left that we have quite a few things working for us at present. Our 2010/2011 programme is there so are the committee members names. The newsletter has been uploaded and can be seen as a pdf document. There is a facility to upload the history of the society and Richard has sent me a copy of the schedule for the 1st Flower Show that was held in 1962 and that has been uploaded into the history section. No doubt photographs will appear there as well in the near future.
If you have any suggestions or information that you think should go onto this site please contact me by email by clicking on the webmaster link below left.
Of course you could sign in our guest book on the left at the bottom of this page with your coments as well.
    Thanks.

Due to the large number of photos on the site I have introduced four extra pages named 'Photo gallery 1'
'Photo gallery 2' , 'Photo gallery 3' and 'Photo gallery 4'. When I consider that the number of photos on our front page are too many I will transfer the earliest photos to these galleries. You can click the link on the left hand side to go to the gallery of your choice. More galleries will be set up in the future as the number of photos increase.

Just to remind everyone that our AGM is on Tuesday 21st February. The agenda appears below.

Our annual craft fair on November 6th 2011 was once again a roaring success. Our thanks to Annette for organising it and all the other members who lent a hand throughout the day. We couldn't have done without you.

Hi everyone, what a terrific show we had on Saturday followed by the excellent party in the evening. I have made a seperate page for the show as last year but below you can see some of the highlights of the evening. Unfortunately no one took a photo of Iris's mouthwatering desserts so they will be just a memory now.

On the evening of 19th July we were honoured to be given a guided tour of the gardens of Camerton Court by our President Ken Biggs and his wife Ivy. What a wonderful garden, one that we can only admire and never hope to achieve. The evening was rounded off with tea and cakes served by Ken & Ivy in the Orangery after which a collection of £200 was given to Ken for his charity. Here are a few photos to remind us all of what we saw.

On Saturday 18th June 2011 we had a great tripout to Kew Botanical Gardens. In spite (or should it be 'because of' ) the driver using his Satnav we somehow went adrift, passing the turning off tthe M4 to Kew at great speed. No matter, we eventually arrived and once Maureen had sorted out the tickets we were away. Some of us had arranged a personal tour of the alpine house plus a look at how Kew propagate and store their plants. This area is not normally open tothe public and we have to thank Kit Strange one of the alpne house staff for showing us around. The following pics were taken by myself and Richard of our trip.

Behind the scenes we saw where sempervivums were being looked after before staging them in the alpine house. We were shown a typical example of the vandelism where a cushion plant which had taken years to grow to its large size had been completely ruined by mindless visitors.

After many years and by kind permission of Andrew Baker we all had a chance to see Parish's gardens on the evening of 14th June. In spite of years of neglect it is now coming back together due to the hard work of Cyril and his fellow gardeners.

Timsbury Diggers on tour - Lake Garda 4th - 10th October 2010

I have at last uploaded quite a few photos from the trip and have made a special page for them. To view
these photos click on this link. LAKE GARDA

Our Spring Bulb Show on 19th March 2011 was a great success in spite of fears about entries for Class1 and there were far more single blooms on the show benches than in 2010 in spite of the bad winter.

As you all know we asked the pupils at St. Mary's School to come up with a design for the front cover of this year's show schedule. Four designs were given to us and very good they were. It was a difficult choice to pick the winner but the committee finally selected the design by Toby Neisen and his design is reproduced here. However as all the designs were so good we decided to give all four children a gift card from Waterstone's.The presentation was carried out at the school and a photo appears below.

Many thanks to Jill and her helpers for a successful 2010 Christmas lunch once again. These occasions are much looked forward by members and friends alike. Richard only managed three photos but he caught the infamous table of raffle winners and Ian who kept pulling out the tickets.

Our Craft Fair on 7th November 2010 was once again superbly organised by Annette who somehow squeezed 31 sales tables into the hall. Mention must also be made of the kitchen staff from washeruppers to Chris and her hard working catering staff with a special congratulations to Dawn who kept going with her all day breakfasts. Here are some photos of the day.

Annual Flower Show 2010

A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped to make our show one of the best in recent years. In spite of the large hiccup on Friday we succeeded in getting the show ready on time and entries and the public flooded in.
The weather was kind to us and using the bowls court for the art and photography classes was an inspiration. In the cookery classes the 'battle of the sexes' Victoria Sponge brought in lots of entries with Colin Robinson winning the overall championship. Lookout next year Colin. Richard took a lot of photos during the day and to see them just click on the orchid link below.
