The 48th Annual Flower Show
15th August 2009.

This is how it all starts with a lot of work and with limited time we haven't to get behind with our work like him below! The staging has to be erected and paper fixed to the top of the shelves to make an attractive setting for the exhibits.

All neat and tidy on Friday evening ready for the flowers, fruit & veg.

Then in it comes on Friday evening and Saturday morning.

The apples, marrows, the onions and tomatoes all home grown.

And then the flowers

Below are the exhibits for a container of mixed flowers and on the right are the classes for gladioli grown from corms bought from the Society. The name of the variety is still a mystery!

The orchid exhibits were more than last year and drew a lot of comments

and the begonias were beautiful.

The fuchsias were fantastic

Our faithful judge Les and his wife judges the large fuchsia class whilst the orchid judge in the background does the same with the orchids.

There were lots of gladioli and dahlias although classes 1 & 2 of the dahlia section were lacking exhibits.

The sweet peas were sweet and full of colour

as were the fuchsias on a board.

and the rose exhibits

Although there was only one hanging basket there were three extras entries in the class which was opened up to include patio planters.

Meanwhile, back in the hall, other exhibits were put into place. The allotment society displayed a table full of of vegetables

The society produce stall gradually became full up

and below, the raffle prizes went on display.

The judging starts with the cookery classes, the boiled fruit cake and the men's entries for the Victoria sponge sandwich.

The floral art classes are always outstanding. The three above were entries in the 'Vintage Years' class and below left is the winner of the 'Peaceful' class which also won Evans Bowl for best in show. The winner of the pedestal class 'Bountless Beauty' is below right.

As always there were lots of entries in the photoagraphy classes all of a very high standard.

In the special class for 'Humour' the photo below came first, expressing the subject well.

The childrens classes are always a favourite with many entries in the 'Garden in a seed tray' class and the cookery classes.

5 decorated cup cakes on the right and 'My favorite pizza' below left.
