Web master
Hi everyone and welcome to our web site. Like anything new it needs input to make it work and whilst I have set it up with a few elementary details I do need a lot more information and suggestions. You can see by the menu on the left that we have quite a few things working for us at present. Our 2009/2010 programme is there so are the committee members names. The newsletter has been uploaded and can be seen as a pdf document. There is a facility to upload the history of the society and Richard has sent me a copy of the schedule for the 1st Flower Show that was held in 1962 and that has been uploaded into the history section. No doubt photographs will appear there as well in the near future.
If you have any suggestions or information that you think should go onto this site please contact me by email by clicking on the webmaster link below left.
Of course you could sign in our guest book on the left at the bottom of this page with your coments as well.
    Thanks.

Due to the large number of photos on the site I have introduced two extra pages named 'Photo gallery 1'
and 'Photo gallery 2'. When I consider that the number of photos on our front page are too many I will transfer the earliest photos to these galleries. You can click the link on the left hand side to go to the gallery of your choice. More galleries will be set up in the future as the number of photos increase.
Bishop's Palace, Wells.

On Tuesday evening 20th July 2010, a group of us enjoyed a guided tour of the Bishop's Palace gardens
and finished the evening with a nice buffet supper in the Palace restaurant. Our thanks go to Maureen and Dawn for organising such a pleasant evening.

Welcome to the Palace as our guide explains the layout

Two more of the sculptures that
are featured in the grounds. On the left is Adam & Eve being cast out from the garden of Eden. It was drizzling during our visit and as I went up close to the statue I noticed rain trickling down the face of Eve and drippping from her eyes as if she was crying.
The statue on the right was designed by Josefina de Vasconcello (1904-2004) and is
made of steel & resin. It is entitled 'The Weight of our Sins'. Every child in the sculpture is
symbolic of a crime against children in the world today.

Our BBQ on 4th July 2010 was a great success with over 30 members turning up. Our thanks go to Annette & Andrew for allowing us to use their garden, to Jill for organising it, to Chris for producing a wide range of salads, to Terry for helping Andrew with the cooking and to everyone who brought along one of the mouthwatering desserts. Here are a few snaps of the afternoon.

And so the BBQ begins

Iris isn't sure whether the barbecue is a smog free zone

Do I eat this or play it Dad?

Everyone waiting for the campfire singsong to begin

Terry finds the ribs fingerlicking lovely although Janet & Myra don't approve

T.H.S at Timsbury Fun Day

Many, many thanks to John and the few hardy souls who braved the cold wind to represent the T.H.S. at the Fun Day on Saturday. Although the sun shone for most of the day the wind made control of posters, leaflets and all the other publicity material a bit lively. However it was a very enjoyable day with much talk of doing it again some time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We all had a good time at Ston Easton on Tuesday evening starting with tea/coffee and biscuits(?) and then a guided tour around the gardens led by Chris Dredge, a spaniel and a couple of lovely cats. Chris gave us the history of the house and gardens as we meandered around. Our thanks go to Chris and her animal followers for making it a lovely evening.

Our Spring lunch on 28th March 2010 was as usual a splendid event. Our thanks to Jill and her band of helpers plus the caterers and the young waiting staff for
making it go so well.
Here are some photos taken by Richard that will remind you all of the occasion.

Christmas Party Night 2009

What a wonderful display of food you all brought along for the American supper part of our party night. It was so much that some of it was even taken back home! Eric quizzed us once again with some of the most obscure questions supposedly related to gardening, resulting in the Nicholls family winning both the first prize
for Graham and the booby prize for Iris. Many thanks to Eric for running the quiz and thanks to all of you who, in bringing along a good array of food, made the evening go with a swing. Below are a few photos taken by Richard.

Autumn Lunch at Conygre Hall, Sunday 22nd November 2009

Once again Jill organised a lunch for us all and once again the caterers came up with the goods.
Thanks to everyone concerned. The new layout of the tables were less formal and gave everyone a
sense of 'belonging'. Below are some photos taken by Richard that show how we enjoy these lunches.

Craft Fair, Sunday November 1st at Conygre Hall.

Despite attrocious weather welcoming stall holders the Craft Fair started on time thanks to all the
fleet footed helper running backwards and forwards between cars and the hall helping stall holders to unload. Once inside we were greeted by the opulent surroundings of the previous day's wedding, drapes and chandeliers and in spite of Annette's misgivings it did add some extra ambience to the day.
The catering ladies and washing up staff worked overtime to keep things running smoothly whilst Colin
imlpored visitors not to spend all their money at the stalls but to save at least a pound to buy raffle tickets. You may recognise a few people below but to get a complete picture of the day click on this small poster.
